Mary's Paintings

Mary has been going to a painting class once a week at the Westminster Senior Center.  She had wanted us to get her painting supplies for her 14th birthday in April.  Janis & I got her acrylic paints, canvas boards, brushes, paper palletes, and an easel.  The store didn't have berets :-)

"Irish Coast" was her first painting.  She worked from a photograph we had taken along the western coast of Ireland last June.  Somehow she captured the colors of that wonderful place.  You can see the islands off in the distance.  We had spent part of a day exploring a small cove just to the right of this place.

She finished the above painting in two sessions.  The painting below was done in one session.  She'd kept a bouquet of dead daisies in her room since Valentine's Day (for some reason).  Why she chose to paint dead flowers is only known to the artist.  I took a video snapshot of the bouquet and superimposed her painting background.  That's the picture on the left below.  Her work is on the right.
